Eligibility & Age Limits
Different posts carry different educational requirements. Below are the essential criteria at a glance.

How to Apply — Online
Applications must be submitted through the official portal only. Follow these steps:
- Visit the official application website: rrbapply.gov.in
- Register using a valid email and mobile number
- Complete the online form, upload documents and pay the required fee
- Submit and save the application/print confirmation

Selection Process
The selection comprises four stages — two computer-based tests followed by document verification and a medical exam. Candidates must qualify each stage to move forward.

Exam Pattern — CBT Details
Both CBTs use objective (MCQ) format. Negative marking: one-third (⅓) mark for each wrong answer.

Syllabus Overview
Syllabus covers technical topics (discipline-specific), basic mathematics, logical reasoning, general science (up to 10th standard) and current affairs. The detailed syllabus for each technical stream is in the official PDF.
- Mathematics: Number systems, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, ratio & proportion, time & work, percentages.
- Reasoning: Analogies, series, coding/decoding, syllogism, blood relations, directions, puzzles, data interpretation.
- General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian polity, basic economy, geography, environment.
- General Science: Fundamental concepts from Physics, Chemistry & Biology (10th level).

Cut Offs — What to expect
Qualifying marks are usually published after CBT-I. Expected minimums (indicative): 40% — General, 30% — OBC/SC, 25% — ST. Zone-wise cutoffs vary; past year data can be used for reference.
