Short answer: In the Telangana police notifications of 29 July 2026, men need a height of at least 167.6 cm and women at least 152.5 cm. This is the same for Constable and SI posts. The 2026 notices list no chest measurement. Men must run 1600 m in 7 minutes 15 seconds. Women must run 800 m in 5 minutes 20 seconds.
Every number on this page is taken from the two official TSLPRB notices: the Constable notice (Rc No. 189/Rect./Rect-2/2026) and the SI notice (Rc No. 225/Rect./Rect-1/2026), both dated 29 July 2026. The links are at the end.
What is the minimum height for TS police in 2026?
The height rule is the same in both notices. Only the post codes differ.

The lower height applies only to Scheduled Tribe and Aboriginal tribe candidates from the Agency areas of Adilabad, Komarambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mahabubabad and Warangal districts. You must hold the right certificate to claim it.
Is the women's SI height 157 cm?
No. Some job websites say 157 cm for women SI. The official SI notice says 152.5 cm for women (Post Codes 11, 12, 16, 17 and 19). That is the same as for women Constables.
Is there a chest measurement in 2026?
Not in the 2026 notices. The "Physical Measurements" part of both notices lists height only. Some websites still print a chest size copied from older recruitments. Go by the 2026 PDF.
The word "chest" appears in the notices only in the medical part. "Pigeon chest" is listed with knock-knees, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes and a few others as defects that make a candidate unfit.
In what order are the physical tests held?
The physical test (PMT/PET) comes after the Preliminary Written Test (PWT). Only candidates who pass the PWT are called. Inside the physical test, each step is a gate for the next:
- Run. 1600 m for men, 800 m for women.
- Height. Only for those who pass the run.
- Long jump and shot put. Only for those who pass the height check.
Candidates who pass all of this go on to the Final Written Examination.
How fast do you need to run?

The run is timed with RFID bibs, so each candidate is timed on their own. For some posts you only need to pass the run. For others, a faster time earns marks that count in the final merit list:
- Run gives marks: Constable (AR), Constable (SAR CPL), SPF Constable, RSI (AR), RSI (SAR CPL), RSI (TGSP) and SPF SI.
- Run is pass/fail only: Constable (Civil), Fire Fighter, Warder, SI (Civil), Station Fire Officer and Deputy Jailor.
What are the long jump and shot put marks?

Both events are pass/fail. They do not add marks.
Do I take the physical test twice if I apply for Constable and SI?
No. If you apply to TSLPRB notices issued within 3 months of each other, the physical test is held once. The same readings count for every post you applied for.

Totals: 7,112 posts in the Constable notice and 275 in the SI notice. The notices say application dates are announced by press release, so check tgprb.in for current dates.
What should I do before applying?
- Get measured properly. The notice itself advises candidates to be examined by a Civil Surgeon before applying, so a surprise at the ground does not end your attempt.
- Time your run on a real track. Measure 1600 m (or 800 m) on a 400 m track with a stopwatch. Your time on a road or a phone app can be off.
- Don't skip the written test. The physical test is only for those who pass the Preliminary Written Test.
