RRB NTPC 2025 Exam Analysis – Section-Wise Review

If you are preparing for the upcoming RRB NTPC 2025 Exam, studying the previous year’s paper analysis will help you understand the question pattern, topic weightage, and overall difficulty level. Below is a detailed section-wise overview of the RRB NTPC Stage-1 examination based on the last recruitment cycle.

🌏 General Awareness Section Analysis

The General Awareness part of the NTPC exam is crucial because it carries 40 marks, the highest among all sections, and is usually less time-consuming. Most questions come from Current Affairs, General Science, and Indian History. On average, 11–12 questions were based on current events, 6–7 from history, and around 8–9 from static GK. Other areas like geography, polity, computer awareness, and physics or biology together make up the remaining questions.
Overall, the level of this section can be classified as Easy to Moderate, but regular updates on current affairs and revision of NCERT-level topics can make this part scoring.

🧮 Mathematics Section Analysis

The Mathematics section of RRB NTPC is balanced, covering all topics in arithmetic and basic quantitative aptitude. Candidates faced questions from areas such as Number System, Ratio, Percentage, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, and Trigonometry. Each topic contributed 1–3 questions on average.
The level of difficulty remained Easy to Moderate, with most questions being formula-based and requiring fast calculations. Regular practice of mock tests and data interpretation sets is essential for securing high marks in this section.

🧠 General Intelligence and Reasoning Analysis

The Reasoning and General Intelligence section consisted of 30 questions that tested logical thinking, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills. Common topics included Puzzles, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Mathematical Operations, and Statement–Conclusion type questions. Sentence arrangement, direction sense, and analogy questions were also frequently asked.
The difficulty level ranged from Easy to Moderate, and students with good practice in reasoning patterns found this section scoring. Focused preparation on puzzles and seating arrangements can help boost your accuracy and speed.

📊 RRB NTPC 2025 Expected Cut-Off Overview

Based on the previous RRB NTPC recruitment cycle, the cut-off marks varied across different railway zones depending on the number of vacancies and competition level. Regions such as Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest cut-offs — generally ranging between 79 to 82 marks for the General category.
Mid-range zones like Ajmer, Allahabad, and Secunderabad had cut-offs around 76–78 marks, while others such as Bangalore, Bilaspur, and Guwahati reported lower qualifying marks in the range of 60–70.
The difficulty of the paper, normalization, and the number of applicants influence the final cut-off every year.

📌 Key Takeaways for Aspirants

  • General Awareness had the highest weightage (40 questions).

  • Mathematics and Reasoning each contributed 30 questions.
