SSC MTS

SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Non-Technical Staff) is the Group C recruitment for peon-level posts in central government offices. The same notice also fills Havaldar posts in CBIC and CBN, which add a physical test. A matriculation pass is enough, and the paper can be written in Telugu.

01 / Eligibility

  • Education: Matriculation (10th) or equivalent from a recognised board, passed on or before the cut-off date in the notice (01-08-2025 in the last one).
  • Age: 18-25 years for MTS (born between 02-08-2000 and 01-08-2007). 18-27 years for Havaldar in CBIC and CBN and for a few MTS posts in some departments (born between 02-08-1998 and 01-08-2007).
  • Upper age relaxation applies to reserved categories, ex-servicemen and others under Government of India rules.

Session-II is checked only if you qualify in Session-I. MTS is a computer-based exam only. For Havaldar in CBIC and CBN there is also a Physical Efficiency Test and a Physical Standard Test.

03 / Exam pattern

Both sessions are held on the same day, 45 minutes each. The question paper is in Hindi, English and 13 regional languages, including Telugu.

There is no negative marking in Session-I. In Session-II each wrong answer loses 1 mark.

04 / Havaldar: physical test

For Havaldar in CBIC and CBN the Physical Efficiency Test is a walk: men 1600 metres in 15 minutes, women 1 km in 20 minutes. The notice also sets minimum height and chest standards (Physical Standard Test).

Is 10th pass enough for SSC MTS?

Yes. The notice asks for Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised board.

Can I write the SSC MTS exam in Telugu?

Yes. The computer based exam is held in Hindi, English and 13 regional languages, including Telugu.

Is there negative marking?

Not in Session-I. In Session-II each wrong answer loses 1 mark.

Is there a physical test?

Only for the Havaldar post in CBIC and CBN. MTS has no physical test.
